Emma (Tilda Swinton) has it all. As the wife of the head of the Recchi clan, a long-established Milanese fashion dynasty, she is rich, elegant and carefree. Almost sleepwalking, she moves through a life that consists of endless dinner parties and meetings with her grown-up children. But then she meets the cook Antonio. At first she was fascinated by his creations but soon also by the young man himself. Without wanting to, Emma is seduced by Antonio's extraordinary culinary skills and cast under his spell. After all, Antonio will not only cut her hair, but also show her a world beyond the Recchi family. For the first time she realizes who she really is; and with Antonio she experiences a passion that was previously alien to her in her luxurious and yet cold everyday marriage.
